Community Connect began in 1987 and has maintained high standards for our day program for adults with developmental and behavioral challenges that may keep them from experiencing their communities the way they want and deserve.
We concentrate on person-centered approaches. This means our focus is on understanding and appreciating the gifts, strengths, wants, and needs of each individual. The more we learn and know about our groups, the greater success there is in reducing maladaptive behaviors. As behaviors decrease, our individuals enjoy and seek greater access to their communities.
They participate in creating their schedules each week which vary from location sites, to activities, or field trips. As communication skills increase,
Each week includes vocational/employment training where they earn cash wages at a higher rate than minimum wage. With those funds, individuals work on money management - including counting and purchasing skills to saving for trips to Disneyland or Knott's Berry Farm. As we learn their strengths and preferences, our staff can provide appropriate and tailored activities; both academic and fun! They also become more successful in addressing each behavior while serving as positive role models for meaningful peer and community relationships. Each shared experience and celebrated accomplishment results in feelings of confidence, independence, and value.
We invite you to contact us to learn more and if you, or someone you know, is interested in our program, please reach out and we would be happy to connect with you.
